FUE Hair Transplant

Follicular unit extraction (FUE), is one of the most effective and successful methods as a treatment for baldness.

In FUE Hair Transplant, we extract the individual follicular units directly from the patient’s donor area, and transplant it into the recipient area “the bald area”.

FUE Hair Transplant Process

How FUE Hair Transplant is performed:

The Extraction

Follicles are extracted from the backside of the head (the donor area).

This area is that it is not affected by the hormone responsible for hair loss as the rest of the head. This stage begins by anesthetizing the posterior region of the head with local anesthesia.

This process is performed by means of an electron extract resulting in micro holes (0.7-0.8 mm) in diameter. This is the advantage of this method. It produces very small, invisible and quick healing holes. These holes quickly heal the next day without leaving any disturbing effect.

Micro-channels opening

After anesthesia and processing of the area for the current stage, microorganisms are opened either in the Perkutan or Microfibromatology method by the specialist doctor. The choice depends on the condition of the baldness and the size of the grafts and their lengths.

The micro-channels are opened taking into account the direction of growth of the hair, where the examination of the growth of the hair before the opening of channels and give a certain angle or degree of curvature fixed to open the channel to maintain the normal growth of hair. The channels are opened from left to right and given a certain degree of tendency to match the normal growth of the hair, which gives a natural appearance when hair growth makes it impossible to know.

Grafts Planting

The grafts which had been extracted will be placed into a tiny sites in the recipient area (channels) which will be made by the doctor in the balding area of the scalp. The implantation (or the placement) is performed with forceps or similar tool.

The follicular units (or grafts) can be placed immediately after each one is extracted or after the whole extraction is finished. Hair transplant in Istanbul

FUE Hair Transplant FAQS

The method of individually removing the hair units allows them to be harvested without leaving a linear scalp scar. There will be some small wounds immediately after the procedure in the area where the hair was removed. After about 3 to 5 days, the wounds will close and the resulting small scabs will resolve after the first week. By the next week, it will be difficult to spot where the grafts were removed.

Most patients set aside 2-7 days after their surgery to recover. While FUE scars usually heal within 3 to 4 days, it may take up to 10 days for the donor area to have a well healed and scab free appearance.

The results from an FUE transplant procedure will last a lifetime as long as the grafts are selected from the permanent zone in a thoughtful and careful manner.  Furthermore, hormonal changes should not affect the grafts. Some patients might see some thinning of their donor area as they age. In those cases, transplanted hair could go through the same phenomenon. However, this is not true for all patients.

Once the transplanted hairs enter the anagen growth phase at 3-4 months, the new hair will start as thin and fine hair. Over the course of the next several months, the hair will become longer and thicker. Between 10 to 12 months, more coarse hair will start to become evident with final results visible at about 12 months after FUE. Please note that every individual heals at a different rate and the results vary per patient.
